Conference - 'Crivelli e l'arte tessile. I tappeti e i tessuti di Carlo Crivelli'

The exhibition “Crivelli e Brera” offers the possiblity to see “Crivelli” carpets next to the paintings in which they are portrayed.
This unique opportunity for direct comparison is useful in conducting an interdisciplinary study on the subject and to gain a deeper understanding of the cultural and commercial contacts between Italy and the Near East during Renaissance.
The results of this research have been assembled in the book “Crivelli e l’arte tessile. I tappeti e i tessuti di Carlo Crivelli”, dedicated entirely to the study of the textiles portrayed in the works of Carlo Crivelli.

The book, published by Electa, will be presented at Pinacoteca di Brera on February 4, 2010 at 3.00 pm in a conference entirely dedicated to this topic, through a cycle of lectures delivered by scholars involved in the project.
