"Nostalgia of Paradise"
The exhibition catalog "Nostalgia. Modernity of a Feeling from the Renaissance to the Contemporary", within the section "Nostalgia of Paradise," presents the "Garden of Paradise" Carpet (Bakshaiesh, Northwestern Persia, ca. 1800) from the Gallery Moshe Tabibnia collection.

This section analyzes that sense of nostalgia, experienced in different periods, for the imaginary dimension of a paradise, a kind of new Arcadia, identified as a place of origin, but also as the setting of an irretrievable existential and environmental dimension of purity and serenity. The theme is widely present in medieval Christian iconography, but also in the Muslim tradition (particularly in prayer rugs), and it is a source of inspiration for the design of sumptuous gardens, in which to recreate the conditions of an ideal bucolic serenity.

The exhibition, curated by Matteo Fochessati, in collaboration with Anna Vyazemtseva, will be on view at Palazzo Ducale in Genoa, from April 24th to September 1st, 2024.
