The exhibit showcases a selection of about twenty objects from the museum's collection of Islamic art.
These artefacts, which are shown to the public for the first time, have been selected by Prof. Giovanni Curatola.
The core of the exhibition showing in Milan is represented by five sixteenth and seventeenth-century carpets. Also on view are some Syrian velvets and ceramic tiles, which reveal how textile designs recur in the realm of decorative arts.
And lastly, a series of prints and illustrations from the collections of the Civica Raccolta delle Stampe A. Bertarelli allow reconstructing the history of the Ottoman Empire and offers some interesting insights into Istanbul's splendour and costumes.
