“The premiere of La Scala’s opera season (scheduled on December 7th), perhaps, is the more glamorous social event in the Milanese calendar as celebrities from all around the world won’t miss the appointment. This year, the artists and spectators have been invited to a gala dinner at Palazzo Marino, the Town Hall palace facing the Teatro alla Scala. In a design to recreate the Renaissance atmosphere evoked in Richard Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde (opening the 2007/2008 season) at the venue of the dinner offered by the Municipality of Milan, Roberto Peregalli and Laura Sartori Rimini [...] had the idea to adorn Palazzo Marino’s balconies facing the courtyard with carpets dating back to the same epoch in which the palace was built. Peregalli got in touch with Moshe Tabibnia, who lent twelve fifteenth, sixteenth and seventeenth-century carpets to be hung from the balconies. As shown in the pictures, the masterpiece rivalling two Ushak star carpets and a ‘small-pattern Holbein’ was a sixteenth-century Karapinar carpet. [...]”.
