In concomitance with the exhibition entitled ‘Milestones in the History of Carpets’, Jon Thompson (Professor at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Oxford; May Bettie Fellow in Carpet Studies at the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford), the author of the homonym volume accompanying the event, will be the guest speaker of a lecture series held at the Moshe Tabibnia Gallery. It is the first educational programme to be planned at the newly redesigned, museum-oriented gallery, mirroring the organization’s multifaceted approach to the world of material culture and collecting: besides fostering interest in antique carpets, the Moshe Tabibnia Gallery aims to become a study and research centre contributing to the shaping of knowledge in the field of textile arts.
