“[...] A special occasion to admire a thousand and one night carpets is offered by the newly renovated Moshe Tabibnia Gallery (Via Brera, Milan), where the exhibition ‘Milestones in the History of Carpets’ showcasing outstanding pieces, whether for their conditions, design or rarity, has been set up. Some of the carpets on view are the antecedents of popular genres [...] whilst many of them once belonged to prestigious collections such as that of the House of Hapsburg or Bismarck, Paul Getty and the Rockfellers [...]. Among the ‘pearls’ offered to the eye, worthy of mention is a ‘Holbein’ [...] as well as an exemplar of the so-called ‘Para Mamluk’ carpets. [...]. Also remarkable is a splendid yet unpublished Chinese, rectangular carpet of the Ming Dynasty. And lastly, the famous Karapinar from western Anatolia [...]. [...] those who are keen on this kind of artefacts but cannot afford mind-boggling investments can make a deal opting for items ascribable to a later period, and thus easier to find, such as the Caucasian carpets [...]. Also deserving interest are the carpets from western Anatolia (Konia, Ladik, Mudjur, Melas, Bergama and Karapinar) dating back to the first half of the nineteenth century. [...]”.
