On September, Sunday 15th and Sunday 22nd the owners of thirteen private historic residences in Bergamo and its surrounds will open the doors of their homes to visitors and take them in discovery of secret, fascinating places, rich in history and works of art.

The September openings, continuation of the second section of the event begun in spring is part of “Landscape Festival 2019 - The Masters of Landscape”.

On the same days, three of these historic residences in Bergamo - Palazzo Agliardi, Palazzo Moroni and Palazzo Terzi - will host the exhibition “Hortus conclusus – The garden in the Oriental carpets of the Fondazione Tassara”, promoted by the Fondazione Tassara, in collaboration with the Gallery Moshe Tabibnia and curated by Giovanni Valagussa and Moshe Tabibnia.

Fondazione Tassara, which has been working to support culture and education between Valle Camonica and the Provincia di Brescia since ten years, received the most complete and important private collection of carpets ever in 2014 as a donation from Romain Zaleski, consisting of 1.325 carpets from the 15th to the 19th Century from three continents. A small but significant part of the collection was presented for the first time at the "Serenissime Trame" exhibition at Ca’ d’Oro, Venice, in 2017.

Now a new, similarly limited and refined selection will be shown during the Landscape Festival 2019 – The Masters of Landscape. The “Sultan’s gardens”, made with expert knots, challenge one to recognise among the vivid colours the exotic animals, birds and plants that, laid out in the grand Oriental palaces or become treasures by way of gifts from East to West, entered European homes evoking not only the “sacred soil” of prayer but also the luxuriant and private garden areas of Oriental cities. This is a unique occasion, given the absolute rarity with which this artistic and cultural wealth is made available to the public.

The exhibition will be enhanced by three opportunities for closer study: on September 13th, at 9PM at Palazzo Moroni, the journalist Beba Marsano and Giovanni Valagussa will discuss “The garden of paradise” (guided visit by payment at 7.30PM); on September 14th, at 6.30PM at Villa del Tasso, the curator Giovanni Valagussa will give a talk on “Carpets and paintings: a long shared history”, which will be followed by a short concert (guided visit by payment at 5PM); finally, on September 21st at 6.30PM, at Palazzo Terzi, Giovanni Valagussa and the chairman of Arketipos, Maurizio Vegini, will discuss “Geometry and imagination: how a carpet is born” (guided visit by payment at 5PM) with a screening of the picture-story “A Turk in Venice”, written and directed by Wladimir Zaleski (original music by Pierangelo Taboni).
