The opening exhibition of the programme "Textiles revealed" aims to provide a key to interpret the garden: a famous theme, yet one that is not always easy to recognise.

Ever since ancient times, the garden was representative of the image of an archetypal condition of happiness, in which abundance of water, shade and fruit, among other delights, offered humans some relief from the harsh conditions of human life. Material and celestial, imagined gardens share some cosmological symbols that are present in most Eurasian civilisations - yet, a modern eye may fail to decode this ancient, often encrypted lexicon. Flowers, trees, birds and other designs present in each of the items displayed will be deciphered, in order to reconstruct this expressive, yet evanescent imagery.
